Thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring this post so I can share our summer Front Porch Refresh. All opinions are 100% our own.
Anyone else feel like this summer is a bit of a gift? Nothing like a year of shutting down life to boost appreciation for the chance to celebrate the outdoors, family, friends and playtime. Such a sweet, precious thing! Like so many, my husband and I have been taking hard stock of our hearth and home to check what changes and adds we can make to our homefront to create a more welcoming and inviting atmosphere. If there was ever a year for modification, 2021 is it!
We’ve dug into quite a few projects around our outdoors and indoors, but one of my most favorite re-dos has been our front porch refresh. You see, my dream as long as I could remember was to have a fabulous front porch–complete with rockers! Too much to my delight, the house we ended up purchasing eleven years ago had a front porch–and the owners left the rocking chairs! What a sweet score!
BEFORE pics:
My mission in this home has been to make this beloved front space as cheerful and friendly as possible. I had the lovely wooden rocking chairs and kept up with regular sweeping and a freshly seasonal front door mat as best as I could, but we continued to lack one major element…color!! Our siding is white, our porch railing is white, and, you guessed it, our porch rockers are white! So it was time to add a splash (or double/triple splash!) of color.
One other element I was crushing on for our front porch was comfy seating. I love the rockers, but our porch space is actually quite large. There was room enough for a conversational or patio set, and this very much appealed to me, as we spend so much time outdoors. I LOVE our back deck, but the option to have another outdoor space to chill or work (especially in this work-from-home culture) was very appealing.
Our front porch refresh
After MUCH measuring and consideration of both desires–comfy seating and COLOR–we settled on a patio set to tuck into one side of the patio and some chic throw pillows to spruce up the rockers (all four now shifted together on the far side). The result? I LOVE IT!!!
With these simple adds, our porch feels fresh, new and inviting! I find myself drawn to work in the new comfy space, and the cozy patio set has hosted more than one happy hour with friends. Our space has become more useable, which has always been our goal from the beginning. We want our house to welcome people!

I am always wowed by the power of a few simple changes and am so glad we made these changes! If you’re considering a change on your own porch, be encouraged that it need not be a big switch to make a happy difference! Here’s to summering outdoors this season, friends!
