Craving goodies, but trying to be ‘good’? No sweat! Give these wholesome swaps for sweet treats a go and save yourself the calorie indulgence!
While I don’t have a raging sweet tooth, I do find myself hankering for sugary treats every so often, and my waistline (and family history of diabetes) isn’t a fan. It’s a tricky line to walk, and if you’re like me, you don’t want your kids to grow up seeing you deprive yourself constantly. Why not find a wholesome way to satisfy that sweet craving, and have the best of both worlds?!
Well, I’ve found 3 fantastic swaps that have been total life savers for me. Even better? With less ingredients and steps; they’re easier to make than their conventional cousins. Easier and healthier? Where do I sign?!
3 Wholesome Swaps for Sweet Treats:
3 Ingredient Cookies
Overripe bananas (up to 3) – smashed
Heaping scoop of nut butter
Quick oats (up to 2 cups)
Mix bananas and nut butter until well blended, but leave some lumps
Add quick oats, ½ cup at a time until you reach sticky cookie dough consistency
Stir in your choice of mix ins
Heap on cookie sheet in 1.5” scoops
Bake at 350 for approximately 18 minutes or until bottoms are well browned, and cookies ‘give’ a little when pressed
The list of possible mix-ins is endless. While that would change the title a bit, it will certainly up the yum-factor!
Our fave mix-ins:
– Chopped dried plums
– Dried cranberries
– Ground flaxseed/coconut/cocoa blend
– Mini chocolate chips
Free-for-All Pancakes
These little babies are dairy, soy, gluten, and grain free!
1 overripe banana
1 egg
2 drops vanilla extract
Teeny pinch of salt
Dash of cinnamon
Mix all ingredients and pour onto a griddle, heated to medium heat. Makes two 4” pancakes. Top with melty nut butter for an extra protein punch!
Guilt Free Peanut Butter Dip
1 tbs peanut butter powder
1 small cup greek yogurt
½ tsp honey
Stir powdered peanut butter and honey into your favorite cup of vanilla Greek yogurt for a snack that tastes super indulgent, without the guilt! Great to eat as a kind of pudding or for dipping fruit!
So, the next time double stuffed cookies, sweet dips, and French toast are calling your name, know you can quell the hunger pangs with these wholesome and satisfying swaps!

My favorite part of these swaps is how easy they are! Lots of healthy recipes require extra steps, and no mom has time for that! These sub into your routine easily, so that’s a definite win. Hope you love them!
