A few weeks ago, my family enjoyed a terrific day out at Tuckerton. We’d never visited this sweet New Jersey seaport before and were happy to check it out on a day of one of their special events, Truckerton. We had such a great time and can’t wait to return soon for another great family day trip!
What is Truckerton?
It’s a family-friendly brew and food truck festival filled with fun, games, and unique vendor booths. Amidst all the happenings, there is plenty of opportunity to experience the museum and village. My kids had too much fun grabbing some special treats from the trucks (and I had little too much fun challenging my waistline by serving as one of the judges for the food truck competition! What a cool experience!), while we explored the museum, strolled through the village and played hard on the nifty village playground. It was the perfect family day out and my kids are already asking to go back!
Sound like the perfect family day trip? It is! While May’s Truckerton event has passed, fear not! There is another Truckerton scheduled for August 12 and 13. The theme? Farm to table! I love it, and am working hard to sort our summer schedule so we can attend this Summer at Tuckerton event–we had so much fun the first time, we’d all love to go again!
What other Summer at Tuckerton events are on the calendar?
-
Privateers & Pirates Festival: June 1oth. The Seaport staff has been plottin’ and schemin’ for months to come up with a line-up even a landlubber would enjoy!
- Baymen’s Seafood and Music Festival: Enjoy delicious Jersey fresh clams, crabs, scallops and shrimp from the finest local seafood purveyors and drink local crafted beers. Shop for gifts and souvenirs from unique vendors.
-
July 4th: What a sweet way to spend July 4th! Hang out in the village then take in the firework show!
Summer at Tuckerton is FUN, friends!
It’s also very, very family-friendly. I can’t stress enough how much my kiddos loved checking out the museum. While some museums tend on the stale side, Tuckerton Seaport was full of interactive exhibits that helped them actively learn about our environment, wetlands, and ocean life. My children had so much fun checking it out and playing with all the activities offered.
Summer at Tuckerton is also a super-affordable, family-friendly day trip:
Pay the nominal fee for admission, and visitation of the entire village and museum is covered. What this actually means for parents of young ones? Get you and your kiddos in the door, let them explore the exhibits and have fun, then run out the day with a packed picnic lunch and endless playtime on the nifty playground. Here’s the thing: if we lived closer, I would take my kiddos there every week as a fantastic way to spend our downtime. Since we live a bit further, I am now playing day trips once a season. However it works for your family, a day at Tuckerton Seaport is an easy win! Plan it now.
Check out the full Summer at Tuckerton (and beyond Summer!) calendar of events HERE, and mark a day off on your family calendar to visit The Seaport now. It’s such an easy, fun, economic way to toss a fantastic day out into your family’s summer calendar. Grab your tickets HERE: Summer at Tuckerton is win!
