We have a bit of a sticky wicket in our home: I can’t stand clutter, but cleaning and I aren’t besties. And as any mom knows, kids are mini walking cyclones of clutter. Give my children 30 seconds in the house, and the resulting explosion of Angry Bird pieces and Barbie shoes is impressively horrific. So what’s a mom to do?
Compromise. In our house, the compromise is the Play Room. The goal is to direct all the toys and chaos to one single room of the house and let the kids have at it. Now, don’t get me wrong, trails of random beads, books, and Matchbox cars are still often found all over our home, but on good days, my kids get to cyclone it up in the Play Room and Mommy gets her slice of sanity by being able to cook dinner in the kitchen without tripping over a Nerf gun.
Win-win for everyone!
Yup, the Play Room is a sweet spot in the house for both Mom and the kids. But while it is an important room for us, I can’t say that it’s the most inviting. The carpet is dark and not exactly welcomingly soft. So when Wayfair asked if I’d like to check out one of their Home Dynamix rugs, I jumped at the chance.
Something fresh and lighter was just the ticket to sprucing up our Play Room. Home Dynamix has a large selection of quality rugs at great prices to choose from. After much deliberation, I decided on the Lexington Beige Rug, eager to brighten up the floor with a light color, while avoiding pure white, too bold a color choice for the many spills and dirt tracks my kids manage to drag in despite my best efforts.
I was also taken with the high pile of the rug, which would help make the Play Room cozier with it’s fluffy shag. While the room is primarily for the kids, I spend a lot of time hanging out on the carpet playing with dolls and building forts with the kids, and let’s just say that Mommy isn’t getting any younger. Soft places to lounge about are a bit easier on the old joints. 😉
And the kids are taken with the fluffiness too. After we first laid out the rug, they rolled around giggling and soaking in the coziness. It was adorable, and a pretty darn proud mom moment that I’d been able to spruce up their play area so well.
Thanks, Wayfair–for the sweet new rug and for the chance to feel boss for setting my kids up with such great room. Friends, go check out their selection of rugs to make a bright change in your own home!
***Thank you to Wayfair for sending me this Home Dynamix rug so we could freshen up a corner of our home and I could share the new look with all of you! Our delight with this rug is 100% genuine!***

We have hardwood floors too, I don’t know why I never thought about adding a rug to the playroom. Love the idea! Thanks!

My hubby is really not going to be happy that I now want to tear up all the basement carpet (because…eewwwwww) and replace it with some nice hardwood flooring…. only… to then go buy a really nice rug. LOL
I can already hear the groans.
