I try to be healthy, I really do. I do loads of crunchy-ish things like essential oils, hot yoga, oil-pulling, and rocking my Fitbit like it’s no one’s business. But the thing is, it’s hard sometimes. More than sometimes, to be honest.
So when someone or something encourages me along my journey to health, it’s a welcome breath of fresh air. This is why United Healthcare’s We Dare You to Share campaign is right up my alley. The entire premise of the campaign is to “take a small step every day to a healthier life”. Perfect.
As I’m sure so many of you can relate to, I don’t have time in this life for grand gestures or commitments. Getting up every day and remembering to take my vitamins feels like a victory in itself. So when United Healthcare promotes a campaign that cheers you on to do one healthy thing each day, this is completely the kind of thing I can get behind.
I may not be able to handle an entire lifestyle overhaul, but I can handle making one positive choice each day. United Healthcare is providing incentive to do this by presenting three different dares: share a photo of your walking shoes, taking a quiz to test your health insurance smarts, and doing a fitness challenge of getting up and getting active.
Each dare has an official set of rules, but entering is easy (if I could throw my hat in the ring with no stress, anyone can–trust me). And the prizes are sweet: each weekly prize winner will receive a $25.00 Visa® Gift Card. 5 (five) total weekly prizes will be awarded in the Sweepstakes through the end of October. On or about November 7, 2014, one (1) Grand Prize winner will be drawn, at random, from among all eligible entries received throughout the Entry Period. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $400 Gift Card to a Sporting Goods or Athletic/Fitness store.
I took the quiz about healthcare, I committed to an hour+ of fitness and recorded it and I snapped a pic of my latest fav walking shoes. As it happens, I am incredibly opinionated about and in love with my walking shoes. No, they aren’t sneakers per-se, but they are the uber-comfy pull-on-shoes that allow me to run to the bus stop (not that we are ever running late…) and slam out my errand list while managing my two kids. It’s an active life, and my Choozes allow me to keep up with it!
The truth is, regardless of how cute your shoes are, real fitness is about making a series of health choices. It is about all the little things that add up to an overall healthier lifestyle. Being the protein granola I opt for every morning to hauling myself out of bed obscenely early to exercise to being informed about my healthcare options to sporting comfy shoes that allow me to stay active.
Thanks to efforts like those from United Healthcare, your efforts to stay healthy are not only encouraged, but rewarded. Go check out the We Dare You campaign today and enter before the end of October to snag some of the wellness spoils for yourself!
****Thanks to United Healthcare for sponsoring this post and for running such a cool campaign! All opinions expressed are 100% my own.****

I love the idea of breaking it down into small steps, Cindy. Maybe we can’t do it all, but we can try to pull off one thing, right? 😉
