Pictures. Pictures. PICTURES. Spend 30 seconds in my house, and it’s pretty clear I’m obsessed with pics of my kids. Really, Picture People should just dedicate a corner of the studio to my family. It’s the least they could do in appropriate reciprocation for all the business we have given them. However, I recently got wind of a chic local gal, Kathryne VonHelms, who is rocking the photography scene. I saw her work, was blown away, and check this–she’s only in high school! The thought of what this talented gal’s future could hold is mind-bending.
This is not a sponsored post. I just really love this girl and am really, really crushing on the pics she took of my kids. Also, I made her take a couple of headshots of me for my blog and she didn’t act like I was totally crazy, so she’s nice.
In the spring, I begged her to come to our house and do a family photo session. I am so lamely behind on keeping up with stuff (this blogging gig is kind of a beast, no?), that I only added a few of the pics on Facebook and on my About Me page a couple weeks ago. Mom. Of. The. Year., I know. It’s beyond time to highlight more of Kathryne’s work.
The photos themselves are fantastic, as you can well see. They have such a beautiful play of light and colors, but my favorite part of Kathryne’s work was that she managed to capture my children as they truly are. Their expressions, their laughter, their faces….Should I ever need a reminder of this particular stage of our lives, taking a one quick look through these pictures will flood me with memories of exactly how my babies were at ages 4 and 2. Priceless.
If you are local to the Downingtown, PA area, you will want to drop everything and race to schedule an appointment with Kathryne. Her prices are beyond reasonable and her talent is extraordinary. You can contact her at kathrynevonhelms@yahoo.com. She can also be found on Facebook and at “twisted_ivy” on Instagram.
And now, I’ll just fill the rest of this post with some of my favorite pictures from our session. Thank you to Kathyrne for sharing your gift with us!
