Recently I got wind that there was a new children’s consignment shop in the area, and I promptly fell over in glee. After my husband rolled his eyes and scraped me off the floor, I made tracks to Sprouts Consignment Boutique in Frazer, PA.
I love children’s consignment. I get almost all of my kids’ clothes and gear secondhand. I feel so proud getting really nice stuff for my family so frugally. Sometimes I have even gotten my crap together enough to sell some of our outgrown items, and the extra cash never hurts. The only problem? I had yet to find one locally that fed my consigning passion.
I hit up Sprouts and had the pleasure of meeting Cindy, the shop owner last week. Friends, let me tell you, if you are local, head there now! First of all, the shop is gorgeous. I think Cindy would humbly evade excessive compliments, but she obviously has a skilled eye for design and aesthetics. I felt calm in a children’s store. This never happens, but it happened at Sprouts.
Secondly, Cindy is a delight. She fun, warm and kind and has a genuine heart for helping others find and sell quality secondhand goods. Did I mention I took my children along? Yeah…so after they ground their goldfish crackers into the carpet, Cindy didn’t even bat an eye. And then after this happened, she told me my children were lovely, so basically I have fallen in love with her. This is not to encourage you should take your children to the shop and have them messily scatter their snacks all over the place, but if it accidentally happens, I’m betting Cindy won’t yell at you. She’s nice, and the kind of person you just love to support.
Thirdly, and most importantly by far, there is some really neat stuff at Sprouts for incredibly affordable prices. The clothing was adorable and my kids fell head over heels for the beautiful wooden play kitchen. My son also went gaga for some trucks he found while I was crushing pretty hard on a diaper bag I spotted. The inventory changes daily so stop in to see what treasures you can find!
The shop also sells some very sweet girls’ hair bows from Elephants on Parade and adorable little girls’ purses and other bags from Jenny Lynn Bags. These are both local businesses run by moms who wow me with their talent. Sleevie Savers has their kid sleeve protectors on sale there too–a wise investment for any parent! Check out all these businesses on Facebook to learn more.
And don’t forget to drop off any extra or outgrown items you may have. I dropped off a few things we no longer needed. Cindy’s cataloging process wowed me with it’s organization. It’s thoroughness allowed me to feel secure in leaving my items to her care. Why not make a little cash clearing out some closet space? Sprouts is accepting children’s clothing up to size 8, maternity clothing, baby gear, toys, and other children’s items. If you have some outgrown things you are looking to unload, swing by to drop them off and allow Sprouts to sell them for you.
And now is the perfect time, as Sprouts’ Grand Opening is this Saturday, 8/3/13 from 12-4pm. In addition to featuring all of the great items they have for sale, there will be delicious cupcakes and some other treats to snack on while you meet Cindy. It’s a great opportunity to pop in and see what Sprouts is all about.
To celebrate her grand opening, Cindy is giving away a $25 gift certificate to her shop. Enter the rafflecopter below for your chance to win. As long as you are 18 or older, you are eligible to win. You can also get 10% off your purchase if you mention “The Mom of the Year” while checking out through 8/10/13.
And for those of you who aren’t local? Please just a second to click this link and like Sprouts on Facebook. It is super-appreciated and helping small businesses get off their feet is completely boss. Thanks, friends! And thank you, Cindy, for hosting this giveaway and opening up such a cool new shop in the area!
UPDATE 8/5: Congrats to Sarah S. for winning the gift card to Sprouts! Happy shopping!
