The Mother’s Day cheese is getting poured on pretty heavily around the web the past couple of days, and I’m not one for over-sentiment, but when Johnson and Johnson asked me to promote their new For All You Love campaign “celebrating the selfless and unconditional caring of caregivers, including moms, and all the ways they care for those they love”, how could I refuse?
Anyone who is a caregiver understands that our lives are comprised of one selfless choice after another. There are so many times that it’s not easy, and that I would so, so much rather curl up with a novel and a glass of Pinot rather than read Curious George and the Birthday Surprise for the 400th time, but…we know that this is not what this life is about. If you have kids, you care for them, you love them, and you let them finish the last bites of your amazing take-out Chinese when you are still really hungry.
My husband’s grandmother is an angel incarnate on this earth who is the perfect embodiment of this “selfless and unconditional caring.” She is one of the people who inspires you to be a better person just by breathing. Nearing 80, she continues to dedicatedly love and serve all the members of her large family. She never forgets a birthday, cooks up a storm for each holiday, answers your calls at any hour, and is kind, sweet and generous in all of her actions. Yet the biggest gift that she gives is her uncanny ability to make you feel like you are the only person in this world who matters whenever she is with you. Her hugs not only embrace, they hold you, ground you, and tether you to something a little more real. For those brief moments in her arms, you are made whole through her love. The expanse of her heart never ends, and it’s an honor to celebrate “For All You Love” with her in mind. Picturing love in my mind, I see Grandma and her hugs. If I can only be 1/10 as generous and as loving as she is in my own life, I will consider it a life well spent. We love you so much, Grandma, and are so touched by all the love you give.
Celebrating the beautiful loves in our lives such as Grandma can’t be done enough. And the thing is, we are never promised tomorrow, so we must love on and rejoice in the special people God has put in our lives while we have time with them. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. I love that J&J is encouraging us to take a minute now to enjoy those we love.
Check out this sweet, 1 minute video hit home which further explains J&J’s “For All You Love” campaign. Just fair warning–prepare your self for some I’m-watching-a-Hallmark-commercial kind of tears. When I saw the little boy with the band-aid…yikes, let’s just say keep that kleenex box close.
I know, right? It pulls on all your heartstrings. And one other groovy part of this campaign? J&J is commited to the health and well-being of moms and kids worldwide and is planning to donate $25K this Mother’s Day to Save the Children®. Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate the holiday to me.
So whoever you are honoring this Mother’s Day weekend, dear readers, take a second and send them an extra hug. Here’s to cherishing all the love in our lives.

In celebration of Mother’s Day this year, JOHNSON’S® Baby has established JOHNSON’S® Baby CARES Care Cards, a digital e-card platform encouraging moms to share positive messages of encouragement with other moms across the country, while simultaneously supporting Save the Children®. You can help, too! Simply pick and share a card filled with messages of reassurance for a Mom in your life on Facebook at http://www.johnsonsbabycares.com. For every card sent, shared or liked, JOHNSON’S® Baby will donate $1.00 to Save the Children® (up to $150,000) to benefit early childhood education programs that foster education and reassurance for new moms. These cards will not only spread encouragement to Moms throughout the country but will also provide Moms in need with the skills and knowledge to successfully support their child’s growth.
