Welcome to anyone stopping by from the More Than Mommies link-up! I’m glad to have you here and and happy to be cohosting again this week. Add your posts below and we will look forward to checking in!
No, I am definitely not pregnant again, but I have a few friends who are, and their stories have brought back some memories of a very special time in my life. Read “special” as “the most horrific time ever” and we’re on the same page here.
Please don’t get me wrong. I fully understand that having children is a blessing, and I’m very grateful for this gift. But a fan of actually being pregnant, I am not.
My first pregnancy wasn’t bad. I was terrified of the whole having a baby thing because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but physically, I couldn’t complain.
Then my daughter was conceived and I’m shocked that my family made it out alive. I’m pretty sure that for at least several months of the pregnancy, she was in cahoots with some vicious angry aliens who took control over my body. It didn’t help that I vomited through my 36th week of pregnancy. The immobilizing pains shooting down my legs were not-so-fun. My son and I were left stranded at story hour one day when I was literally unable to stand up. Pass the wheelchair. I have never felt so geriatric in my life. Awesome.
Then there was the time my son and I both got the flu, and my husband had to stay home from work to take care of us for a week. Then there was the time after this we all got sinus infections. And then head colds, and then a stomach bug…you get the idea. On several occasions I was in such severe pain from constipation I loudly begged/screamed at my husband to take me to the ER. Enraged pregnant women are just such neat people to be around. Truly fun times around here with such sweet, happy memories…
If you are pregnant, I am sincerely praying that your journey is so, so much smoother. Hopefully you are delighting in it and feeling as gorgeous as all those beautiful knocked-up celeb moms on the pages of Star magazine. Hey, if you’re feeling great, go rock this time out and enjoy!
On the chance that things are a bit rougher though, know that I’ve got your back. Just offering a little shelter from the storm here. I can promise you this Mom of the Year will always understand when pregnancy isn’t 100% awesome because I, in fact, was the WORST pregnant person ever. If you don’t believe me, just ask my husband how much he would love to do it all again. He might be a little busy excessively stocking up on our birth control, but I’m sure he’d be happy to take a minute to fill you in.
