When “Got Milk?” asked me to honor my favorite blogs that I would read while kicking back with a morning latte, I was instantly, “Heck yeah!” A latte and a chance to check in on some very cool blogs? This is pretty much as good as my fantasy life gets right now, so I was sold.
On my little blog, I’m giving away one Latte at Home Care package (a very cool latte mug and free gallon of milk). All you have to do to enter this giveaway is just leave a comment on this post below and I’ll let you know if you won. But if you’re in the market for a bigger prize, hop on over today or tomorrow to The Breakfast Project (https://wwwSource.facebook.com/MilkMustache or http://www.milkmustache.com). There you can enter the Latte Love Sweepstakes for a chance to win a Latte Lovers Essentials kit or the latest Keurig brewing system. While the Keurig would be an amazing score, the latte kits are pretty awesome too. Each one will include a Bodum milk frother, Latte Love mug, 8 oz. Lavazza coffee, Torani syrup, McCormick spices, recipe card & coupon. So head on over there and enter to win!
So let’s get back to my fantasy…With a frothy latte in hand*, I am leisurely lounging on the back deck with my fancy new mug, trolling around on my laptop reading up on and saying hello to some beloved blogs.
I made myself limit this list to blogs I haven’t previously lauded on The Mom of the Year, so I don’t scare some fellow bloggers into thinking I was obsessively stalking them–even though I probably am…In any case, here are a few sites I would love to linger at for an extended period of time:
Point Counter-Point Point Point Christian and Pat are brilliant. And they are funny. VERY funny. They make me laugh and snort out loud with every new post they put up. Whether hashing out German beer laws or encouraging us all to take heed to the obviously impending revenge of the Animal Kingdom, these guys are throwing out fantastic stuff. I am not understanding why they aren’t the huge-est blog in the blogosphere, blessed to have Christian check in on my blog, and pouting that these guys can’t be featured on the Today Show every morning (which, in my fantasy world, I would have loads of time to watch).
Paige Kellerman over at There’s More Where That Came From. Paige Kellerman. PAIGE KELLERMAN. Is this woman possibly even human? I am blown away with her wit and incredible gift to write with such a keen sense of humor. She is a woman after my own heart, and I could just sit and read her posts over and over again. She’s the creator of some of the funniest ecards I’ve ever seen. I think the ecard featured in this post about explaining your blogging habit to your kids made me pee my pants a little bit (okay fine, more than a little bit. Yeah, she’s that classy: she makes her own material. Just go over and see for yourself.
Wrinkled Mommy. Talk about generating your own stuff! Debbie somehow manages to manipulate dolls into depictions of her daily life and capture these renderings in truly snort-worthy photos. Not only are the pics truly hysterical, they are completely effective in illustrating her point. Check out this post where she writes about the mysterious trauma a surprise package brought to her house. I was hanging on edge just waiting to see what Ken and Barbie would figure out what to do with the bottle…Debbie writes about the very real “stuff of life” and always makes me laugh in the process. Thanks for making my day every time I check in.
Confessions of a Redheaded Mama. I feel like everything I’m thinking, Sara has blogged about. This is great because then I can just hop over to her blog and feel incredibly more normal about myself. This is always a good thing. She writes with levity, realism, and a friendliness that just makes me feel like I know her and would really love to just go grab a latte with her. When she wrote about her progress with accomplishing the big goals in her life (think laundry and closet organization), I was completely sold. Please more fantasy mornings so I can pop by here more often!
And finally, I would be remiss to ignore Bad Parenting Moments, who is a genuis. I have no idea how she writes this stuff. I laugh my way through every single brilliantly-worded phrase in her posts, and then go back to re-read to fully capture the very true reflection on parenting that she shares. Imagine being so funny that everything you say sends people into gales of laughter all, while simultaneously reminding people of some of the more real truths of this life. Her words on seeking control over our children were spot-on. She’s got a mad crazy gift. Tune in, check it out, and treat yourself.
So bottom’s up with your latte mug, readers. Hope you sneak a little fantasy in this week and maybe enjoy a latte or a few blog posts, or maybe even both. Here’s to starting off to a great week…
*FYI, the busy mom’s version of this sweet beverage is to just mix 2 parts milk with 1 part coffee and sneakily sip all that calcium and protein in between your desperate attempts to get everyone dressed and out the door.
In disclosure, this announcement is made on behalf of The Motherhood and the Milk Mustache Campaign, who paid me to write this post, in addition to sending me a Latte at Home Care Package. All opinions are 100% mine.
