The Water Table: A Monday Review

I have put this off for way too long.  We’re already well into August and I have neglected to share with you our #1 hot spot this summer–the water table.  What is it?  A plastic table you pour about 3″ of water into.  What is the deal?  I have no idea.  If you asked me about 30 years ago, I might have been able to fill you in, but now, I just don’t get it.

I am eternally grateful for it, however, and should be writing weekly love letters to it’s inventor.  The kids will stand at this table and just play, and play, and play…and play, and play and play for hours.  If you want to make them really go nuts, throw in some cups and pitcher or two.  Good luck trying to wrestle them back in the house for lunch.  When my sister gifted this to my son 2 yrs. ago, I didn’t understand that she had bought us Heaven on Earth for toddlers.  I need to send her a belated thank you.

And actually, it’s not just fantastic for toddlers–we have had kids as old as 9 come over and play at this thing for hours and as soon as my daughter could pull herself up to stand, she was right there splashing along with the big kids.  Like I said, I don’t get it, but I love it.  It is truly The Place to Be this summer.  Come on over for a splash 🙂
