Wha-whaa?? Jelli from Jellibean Journals wanted to co-host her weekly link-up, Monday Mom Musings, with me? Seriously, I know I’m The Mom of the Year ;), but this was a huge honor, the likes of which this little blog has never seen! Important enough that I was willing to suspend my weekly Monday Review series–I know, I know, tears in your coffee…it will be back next week, so try to pull yourselves together until then, dear readers.

Hanging on the Porch
One day last week I decided we were going to soak up this last bit of summer weather and spend the entire morning outside giving our hot spots (baby pool, sandbox, water table, etc.) a work-out. Hats on, kids greased up with sunscreen, water bottles in hand, we trekked out the door and made it about two steps. And then we stopped and didn’t get any further. Move aside, Type A-Planner Mommy, today the kids were just going for the front porch.
What is even on the front porch? Nothing, or so I thought…As it turns out, the kid-sized rocking chairs were endless amusement for my daughter who just the week before started walking. She toddled back and forth between the chairs, crawled on them, spun around, rocked for a nanosecond and then repeated. She LOVED it. And oh, did I mention she was rocking some pretty crazy cool sunglasses to boot? Turns out sporting a diva look and exploring our porch furniture was going to be enough to keep her happy.
My son discovered the hose and his nearby bucket and spray bottle. Probably will not get points for water conservation here, but he had a blast filling up an old pitcher from the hose, filling up his spray bottle from the pitcher and proceeding to water each and every flower bloom and leaf in the porch area over and over again…and over and over again.
So from my view of my own (adult-sized) rocking chair, the morning was looking pretty good. While our carefully applied sunscreen under the cover of the porch was totally useless, the plants got watered (very well), and we all got to relax, each pursuing our own individual interests (yes, mine was just sitting and not moving for an entire consecutive five minutes–it was awesome). Forget the pools and the toys and all the hoopla, apparently sometimes you just hang on the porch…
