If I had to pick one place on this earth that I instantaneously want to shoot myself upon entering, it would have to be Babies ‘R Us. I myself registered there, continue to shop there for baby needs on occasion, and unarguably, they have the largest selection of baby stuff contained in any one store. The problem is, I walk it and suddenly there are a lot of bright colors parading before my eyes, and an overwhelming amount of products within arms’ reach. I find over-stimulation to be panic-inducing, so this store is not a pleasant experience as a whole.

Sensory overload aside, I would rather repeatedly bang my head against a brick wall than go through the tediously long and unnecessarily inefficient process of buying an item from someone’s registry. To even get a registry printed out, you need the patience of a saint. After said registry is in hand, good luck trying to actually find something on the registry from the actual store. I would bet money that some psycho from corporate purposely lists random items that don’t exist on the printed-out registries.
Say you actually manage to find something to buy (lucky you!)–enter the register. WHAT IS THE DEAL?!?! Of all the stores that should have a smooth check-out process to cater to the needs of young parents with screaming children who haven’t slept in the past 1,647 days, BRU should be at the top of the list (let’s be honest, no one ever shops for diapers “just for the fun of it”. Parents are tired, worn out, hysterical over the amount of money they are sinking into covering their kids’ bums…cut them a break and for the love of God, just allow them to check out in under ten minutes). Somehow that divine aforementioned psycho executive has decided it would be fun to never pair a working cash register with a decently-intelligent store clerk at any given moment. The repetive “calls for a manager” at the registers are excessive and extreme. And apparently every time the manager needs to be called to approve a transaction, he needs to be rustled from his vacation in St. Barts because it takes him approximately 17 years to actually get to the register.
Oh my–honestly didn’t realize how much I despised BRU until I started writing this post. I am now officially banning their stores, which means I will be steadfastly refusing to shop there…at least until the next good coupon comes my way 😉
