Keep your eyes heavenward |
A few of my friends have recently experienced some really, really rough junk. It’s not my place to give details, but think: the nasty, hard stuff of life and you’ve got it. My heart breaks for them, and I wish wish wish I could do something to “make it better”. I can’t because sad, true story–I’m human. However, I do know how real the lyrics of Building 429’s “Where I Belong” have become to me and how much comfort they have brought me. Getting caught up in the drama and the painful things of this world is often par for the course, but God does call us to something better. He has promised us a life in a much better place, far better than we could ever imagine. God doesn’t promise to take our pain away, but He does promise to walk through it with me. He reminds me that this earth is Not My Home and it is Not Where I Belong. So what, we just go through the motions of walking through this daily life, knowing something better is on the other end? No, we do the best we can to rock out this life. We suck it dry for all the beautiful things it’s worth. But when this life hurts, we can cry and it is okay b/c we’re “just not home yet”–it will feel better when we are, I promise. In the meantime, it definitely does help to read some really funny blog posts 😉
