As a natural worrier, it is so easy for me to get fussed up about things that aren’t true and that will likely never come to pass (i.e. our house will probably not be attacked by a random gang of burglars, nor will my daughter grow up socially stunted b/c I skipped playgroup last week). Focusing on this kind of stuff really isn’t productive or helpful. So I’m going to take this verse to heart as a much-needed reminder to pay attention to the stuff that I know to be true right now:
God is bigger than any of the stuff I am ever grappling with
It will be okay
I will always hate to clean toilets
I am older than I used to be
I love my kids
I don’t always like my kids
My dog is psychotic and I would seriously dose him with Valium if I could afford it
I am not a crafty person
I never will be a crafty person
The dust bunnies in the basement scare me
It’s awesome to sleep with the windows open
The sight of baby food turns my stomach
My daughter won’t be a baby forever
I should delight in her infanthood while I can
I generally hate kids’ birthday parties
I am throwing a huge kid birthday party in a few weeks
I seriously think my husband is rockin’
I am so lucky to have married someone who can handle html code b/c I will never, ever be able to understand it
My mother is dead
It may indeed be time for me to grow up
Life doesn’t get much better than birthday cake ice cream–well, maybe a really good wine…;)
Carry on with the truth, my friends–it’s a good thing, trust me 😉
