I’ll confess, I pulled out The Big Dogs a couple days ago. Hey, give this Mom of the Year a break. It had been a long, long day of fun at Longwood Gardens and we were totally rockin’ the day napless (never a wise choice with a baby and a toddler). I managed to get everyone safely home sans wrecking the minivan from exhaustion and when everyone was safely de-sandaled and in the house, I wanted to do some crazy selfish things like unpacking the ginormous backpack from the day and changing up the laundry. So I did it…I gave my baby my keys AND my sunglasses to play with so I could keep her occupied to score a few minutes to “take care of stuff”. When her interest in those things ran dry?? Okay, yes, I’m copping up–I gave her the house phone and secretly hoped that she would somehow accidentally call someone who would then try to carry on a conversation and thus keep her occupied for a few more minutes…hey, if it was anyone I knew, I was so desperate I could have definitely worked up a good excuse–and maybe even a few pitiful tears so they would feel bad for me instead of being grouchy that I set my 11 mo. old loose with the phone?
