In short: her ears were fine 😉 |
Will this become a series?? I had posted a few months ago about my infinite success in taking my kids to my daughter’s 6 mo. well visit. As you might guess, we had some further pretty gorgeous Mom of the Year moments this time around as well. The set-up was not awesome. I had taken her in 2 weeks ago and the doctor discovered that my baby had a ear infection (that I in no way knew about or suspected). If we had not shown up for an appointment, it would have gone totally undetected. Major neglectful mother implications coming through. Anyway, as I was herding up my children and diaper bag to leave for this follow-up appt., I looked down and noticed my daughter had a ginormous red scratch across her cheek. Amazing. I tend to think this is some sort of pediatrician’s office phenomena, in which your children will inevitably scratch/bruise/otherwise wound themselves right before the appointment so questions of child abuse are called into play. Regardless, glaring scratch and all, we got loaded up in the van. Upon arrival, I realized that some sort of sock monster had apparently eaten one of my daughter’s socks en route and was no where to be found. This was unfortunate as it was one of those sub-zero-feeling Spring days. Further neglectful mother sirens blaring here–now Mommy not only subjects her daughter to facial wounds, but is not able to properly dress her children as well. I did consider just turning around and going home, but no way was I going to let all the packing-up/leaving-the-house efforts go for naught…
