Won’t lie–in general I’m a huge non-fan of taking children along to appointments. It’s stressful, time-consuming and usually ends with at least 2 of us in tears. Even dragging them along to their pediatrician appointments seems excessive at times. Unfortunately, with no preschool yet on the scene, we are blessed to be able to rock most of our doctor/dentist/etc, appointments as a big happy family. Lucky us. One morning last week my favorite. Mommy had a cardiologist appointment. After being kept in the crunched in a teeny office with 2 kids and a double stroller while we waited for the doctor for nothing short of 50 minutes, my blood pressure had to escalate at least a hundred-fold. All the walls were officially scaled, chairs climbed and magazines were chewed. This doesn’t even take into account all the sharp instruments and fancy, expensive equipment. The sweet technician straps me flat to a table with about a million electrodes stuck all over me. At this point, I can’t actually see the children, but am not worrying about their safety. My mindset is more, “Holy cow. What will they break and how much is it going to cost us?”. The technician then revs up the EKG machine and tells me to “Just relax and breathe deeply”. Obviously. Of course. Definitive wonky read-out ensured and requisite repeat pleasant experience on the books for another couple of months out. Looking forward to it.
