An Ideal Mother’s Day

There are a couple of factors combining to make this Mother’s Day Not The Most Fun.  My sister and I took a vote and decided that if we could scratch one day from the calendar this year, it would be Mother’s Day.  As it is the first one we are going motherless and grandmotherless, we’re anticipating that it may be a little tricky.  However, somehow God didn’t get the memo and the holiday is still on.  To add to the fun, my husband, being as incredibly in tune as he is with the fantasies of modern young mothers, suggested we spend the weekend potty training our son.  After I shot him the you-have-three-heads look, he quickly backtracked with his suggestion.  Yet after some consideration, I realized he was onto something–our weekend was open, and we really do need to kick these diapers to the curb…so joy and rapture, I’m thinking this will truly be a day full of the stuff that dreams are made of–bring on the mini toilets.  Here’s hoping your day includes less tears and urine management than ours–happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in your life and especially to those of you who are moms yourselves 🙂
