I have been thinking for a while on what kind of series I could feature on this blog, b/c apparently blog series are just the thing to do. Plus, it may help me gain some organization to my sporatic posting and provide fodder if I am flailing for material. But I’m not creative and crafty, so a weekly project series won’t suit. This isn’t an advice blog, so a weekly “Dear Abby” doesn’t fit either. Obviously my too-messy life is not rocking out healthy living tips….mmmhhh…mmmhh…oh wait! If there is anything this Mom of the Year is, she is super-opinionated. I have thousands of thoughts on so many things, and I love figuring out what works best for me and my family. Since no one knows what to do with Mondays anyway, I decided to pull it all together and here we go…every Monday I will review something, be it movie, baby product, toddler toy, online site, whathaveyou. Bottom line–just get ready for a bunch of non-researched, overly-opinionated reviewing 🙂
For this first week, I am going to praise the new Muppet movie crafted by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stroller (this weekly post will not always be in praise–I really debated whether or not to rip into the Dr. Phil Show b/c I chanced upon it during naptime today and I was reminded of just how old, tired and annoying the show has gotten, but decided I wasn’t in the mood for a thrown down today…). So, before we watched The Muppets (2011), I didn’t even remember how much I LOVED the Muppets while growing up, but I watched the entire movie with a geeky, stupid grin on my face. I was sold, I was in love, I was back in elementary school, crushing on life and goofy characters singing equally goofy songs with incredibly clever lyrics. The flashback of this movie was fantastic, incredibly personable, drawing the audience in with each witty line. It helps that I have a lady crush on Amy Adams and find both Jason Segel and Miss Piggy hysterical. In any case, amazing movie. If you grew up during the 80s, don’t bother renting it, just buy and make it a goal to watch every couple of months (you have the kind of kids that won’t sit still for a movie? Okay, fine–make it your goal to watch once every 5 yrs.–still worth the buy 😉 ).
