How in the world can she be so on-trend and rock out so many varying prints AND a bunny bib at once?! My daughter is a fashion diva. |
This one epic-ly goes down among Things That Should Never Have Happened. The scene was set beautifully. We managed to “get in” to the Hersheypark employees annual Easter Egg Scramble–I (heart) my BIL, who works there. We’d heard fantastic things about this event (and all the amazing chocolate you score there). Our children had never been to an egg hunt, so this would be perfect. We would swing by and pick up my father and sister on our way and enjoy an idyllic spring morning together. Picture blissfully singing sweet little lyrical tunes and skipping through fields of daisies…
This would be the antithesis of what actually went down.
Scene One: I went in to get up my son that morning and screamed. I was greeted with the most massive amount of vomit I have ever seen–sheets, carpet, etc. covered. We actually had to throw out the pillows. Poor, sweet little guy, I know. Guess what? Still going to the egg hunt b/c we’d already paid for the tickets ($4/piece, so not a ton, but we’re talking principle of the matter, here…) and moreover, Mommy Was Excited (horrible, horrible parenting, I know..).
Scene Two: By the time we got everything cleaned up and everyone re-bathed, we were running ridiculously late. Forget swinging by to pick up the fam, rather my sister got a panicked, almost-tearful-b/c-we-were-going-to-be-late-for-my-daughter’s-age-bracket hunt, “Can you just meet us there?” phonecall.
Scene Three: In the 40s and raining. Miserable.
Happy parents, miserable child |
Scene Four: My son cries the ENTIRE time because he feels awful and his overly Type-A parents exhaust themselves with bribes of chicken and fries and screaming things such as, “Just pick up the pink egg, for goodness’ sake!”.
Scene Five: Horrendous affair over, everyone loaded back in minivan, heat blasting, three of us crying and vows to never ever celebrate Easter again. Because after all, egg hunts are the sole reason for the holiday…
First egg hunt accomplished? Check.
Candy gathered? Check.
All in all, a most definite success…
