A Stroller for Every Occasion

1. Umbrella stroller.  Totally useless.  In theory, sure, having a lightweight, easily transportable stroller is easy and manageable.  In practice, when is anything with children ever “easy and manageable” and when would I ever not need the under-carriage basket to stash all my crap??  Also, my husband and I are both tall and no, not so back-friendly to have to crouch over to push the handles…

2.  The Metrolite Graco that came with our travel system we got for our first child.  Love it!  Lightweight, easy, storage space and can take a beating with the best of them.  Will cry when I have to get rid of this treasure that has seen our family through so much.

3. The jogging stroller I snagged at a yardsale for $7.  Fantastic, after I finally figured out how to steer with the back wheels (dang, wasn’t I sight to behold at the park before I nailed this one?!) Has been used on many walks b/c it’s so all-terrain friendly (read: can easily be pushed over the 20 ft. of “wooded area” we must cross over to get to the beautifully paved walking paths at our local park…).  But let’s be honest–I would love this one even if it sucked, b/c I PAID ONLY $7 FOR IT!!!

The Joovy: The Current Most Oft-Used Favorite

4.  Got knocked up again.  The Joovy.  The Joovy.  THE JOOVY.  Oh, the live of my life, and this was another amazing yardsale find, at only $15 (they can easily retail for $150+).  Very cool b/c my daughter can be secured snug in the front, still in her cozy car seat (or out if the weather is warm enough), and my son can sit or stand in the back.  This choice of positioning makes him feel like a rock star and he loves it!  As soon as I snatched this one up, the monsterous heavy Baby Trend Sit-n-Stand I had previously bought was returned to Babies R Us.  Sure, love that there was an option to put a regular seat on the back so my son could be comfortably resting and strapped in, but that benefit was pretty strongly outweighed by the fact that I would have been admitted to the hospital several times over for breaking my back while lugging this beast.  Also pretty sure the minivan would have had to get traded in for a 15 passenger to make room for it… 

5.  Then my son broke his leg, and our angel, AM, swung by with a regular old side-by-side double stroller, which was a Godsend as my son could neither sit nor stand.  So it was pretty freaking awesome and not nearly as hard to navigate through doorways as people terrify you into believing that any side-by-side stroller is…

So at first blush, it would appear that we are covered on all stroller fronts, and should you need to borrow any of the above, please holler (except for the umbrella stroller, which I will pay you to take away from me).  Also, if you ever want to talk shop, I can obviously debate the merits of strollers ad nauseum (as I just proved), so we could make a night of it, or heck, let’s be real, a weekend of it, as we burn out Google casing out the maximum benefit stroller scenarios.  However, much to my husband’s chagrin, I can’t actually promise that I am done with my stroller collection, so clear out some more space, and just go play your guitars, honey 🙂
