No, not a typo where I meant to say “casting off”. Today is the day after six very long and very short weeks (isn’t it funny how time can take on very different dimensions simultaneously?), the hip spica cast is coming off! Woo-hoo! Kind of scared as to what we will find in there–I’m willing to place bets on stickers, fruit snacks and light bright pegs–and kind of wary of the assured stench, BUT so, so incredibly grateful that we got through this phase and are moving onto the next. Hey even though he won’t be able to walk for 2-3 weeks, at least he can sit in a car seat now, which theoretically means we can leave the house. And though I can’t carry 2 kids, can you say “drive-thru”?? And super-bonus–we could make treks out to return the incredible loads of stuff that people have so blessedly lent us 🙂 The major plus here is that minus a few bean bag chairs, lap desks, scooters, and special toys, I could potentially walk through my living room without falling over something?? In any case, in a previous post, I had written that sometimes when life hands you lemons, you make indoor sandboxes. I’m now thinking that sometimes when life hands you lemons, you just embrace the lemons. Because of lemons, you often become stronger and appreciate what you already have a lot more, which is always a good thing 🙂
