Direct shout out to my friend K for reminding me how much I wanted to write about this hot topic 🙂  Except in my house, it’s more like “Joooosss! JOOOSSSS!”  The intensity and depth of my toddler’s obsession with juice is astounding to me.  The entire household has been brought down countless times with ginormous temper tantrums related to perceived juice needs (most often not getting it at requested times, but occasionally when Mommy goes with orange when she obviously should have gone apple).  Of course, all the standard tricks are in place–filling 3/4 with water first, pretending to add more juice to the cup when you’re actually not, etc.
I largely viewed our juice situation as a badge of shame, embarrassed to discuss with other moms as I was sure this obsession was a result of some poor parenting choices I had made somewhere along the line. Â Then one night I was working the children’s clearance racks at Kohls around 9:45pm, armed with the coveted 30% off coupon, when I heard it. Â Bloodcurdling screams for “Juice! Juice!” made me freeze mid rack-rifling. Â WHAT WAS HAPPENING?! Â How had my son somehow managed to wake up and walk himself to Kohls without my husband knowing? Â How had he found me?! Â Then I realized–it was ANOTHER CHILD pleading for juice! Â A wave of sweet relief washed over me–my child was not the only one with an extreme beverage addiction!!! Â Woo-hoo! Â And bonus–I could continue to peacefully shop the last 15 min. before the store closed, bargain hunting resumed…
