Yesterday we went to Weaver’s Orchards in Morgantown and had a lovely time picking a pumpkin, taking a hayride, and checking out all of the fun fall activities they had set up for kids–seriously a great place. In between breathing in the crisp fall air and taking in all the sights and sounds, we spent a considerable amount of time chasing after our very excited toddler. Under people, over people…you get the idea. God love those of you whose 2 yr. olds listen perfectly to you, but our little boy’s wide-eyed wonder wasn’t having it yesterday. Plus, to his advantage, he has one up on us by just being small–it’s easier for him dart in and out and through. In all of my pre-child infinite child-rearing wisdom, I judged (yes I will admit, I judged) people who tethered their kids. Then I had one. While we have yet to cross the line into containment devices, I would now not entirely rule out the idea of developing some sort of inground fencing system for children. It has worked beautifully with our dog, and those of you who live even semi-close to a busy road will understand. For those of you without children, I know what you are thinking: “Just watch your kids!” Yeah…
