When two of awesome fellow bloggers nominated me for the Sunshine Award, it was definitely time to get on board and pass this very cool award along! This award is great because it’s purpose is to “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere”, which is always a good thing! Personally, I can use all the inspiration I can get, right? 😉
So much thanks to the ladies who nominated me: Patricia at The Worst Mom Ever, who is SO NOT The Worst Mom Ever, but rather a wonderfully sweet fresh breath of air in this world of parenting with her oh-so-relatable posts that usually leave a huge smile on my face and to Big A little a, author of a fantastic blog in which she truly “gets it” and manages to make me feel a little more normal while just being SO real and fun. Thank you, ladies!
The requirements of the Sunshine Award (as Patricia outlined in her post) are that I need to thank those who nominated me and link back to them (check!). I also need to post the award on my blog (check again!), answer 10 question, and pass the award onto to 10 other bloggers.
So who inspires me and spreads some sunshine my way? Keep it down to 10, seriously?! Okay, here goes…
1. Neverland Nook Gosh, these ladies are so darn crafty it scares me! They have become true friends, and I so admire their dedication to starting their own business and rolling out some gorgeous posts in the meantime so the rest of us can follow along.
2. The Chubby Chatterbox I have never met him in person, but he is one of my #1 supporters with his daily checking in and comments. His loyalty means the world and every time I read his skillfully crafted posts, I am inspired to better writing.
3. The Seely Family Blog: More than 9 to 5…My Life as “Mom” Kristy is so kind and so genuine. I just wish I lived closer to her so we could pool in for babysitting and regularly hit up a cup of coffee together! She reminds me that the purpose of genuine blogging is to connect with others 🙂
4. Stroller Parking Only. Every single post is so darn spot-on and makes me feel a little less alone in this world of parenting. Honestly, I feel like I could copy and paste her “About Me” page into my own blog and be good to go–true kindred spirit 😉
5. The Browsing Brunette. This mom’s blog is full of fashion tips and ideas (much needed!). But in the midst of the fashion help, she throws in some wonderful shopping tips and honest anecdotes about raising her two very sweet kids. I always look forward to checking in and see what she’s got to say!
6. Femme Frugality This gal slams it out with her rock-solid money saving tips and advice. She is smart, creative and loads you up with incredibly useful information. She truly gets what it’s like to have kids and to have to stick to a budget. I am so thankful for all her advice!
7. Karifur’s Weblog Her posts are brilliant. She has such a keen, sharp sense of humor, and the witty crafting of words is an art for her. I look forward to the awesome titles of her posts alone–almost always snort-worthy. Check this treasure out!
8. Bites for Babies Lisa has created such a sweet little home on the Internet where she shares with you some recipes she makes for her baby. This is not just your average baby food! Her dishes are always creative and things you would proudly serve to adults as well. She’s given me some great ideas and everything always looks delicious.
9. Actual Times May Vary I just recently chanced upon this find. Talk about incredibly clever, original material! And Christie doesn’t just have funny things to say–she adds her own very cool chalkboard art to each post. She’s an artist, she’s got a gift, and she shares it with you regularly on her blog.
10. Adventures with Captain Destructo Captain Destructo being, of course, Melissa’s son. Melissa lays it all out there and is committed to taking care of her kid the best that she can–destructiveness and all 😉 She’s got good stuff to share, and best of all, keeps it real while she does it!
The questions Big A little a asked me to ask were a lot of fun to answer:
1. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
I would say I’m ripping off her answer, which was the glorious San Diego, but unlike her, I don’t actually live there–just dream about it!
2. If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go?
C’mon! I’m a mom with young kids–throw me anywhere tropical, stick a cold drink in my hands, and I’m good to go.
3. What’s your favorite part of blogging?
The writing. Absolutely the writing. It’s been a long time since I had an outlet to do this, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it. I love it.
4. Coffee or hot chocolate?
Coffee–silly question 😉
5. How do you take your coffee?
Strong with a little bit of a fancy creamer
6. What do you do to relax?
When the Olympics aren’t on? Umm…ask me in a week. Right now I can’t think about anything other than parking my butt to catch the latest swimming results.
7. How do you keep calm in stressful situations?
My success in remaining calm is entirely dependent on two factors: how tired and cranky I am and how tired and cranky the kids.
8. Beautiful skies or clear with stars?
Either–I’ll take gorgeous in whatever form it comes.
9. Dogs, cats or fish?
Eh–as annoying as my neurotic dog is, I’d still pick my puppy any day of the week 🙂
10. Be honest–which name do you like better, maiden or married?
Married! Seriously, this one of the top reasons I was stoked to get married.
Happy Sunshine Award, everyone! Be sure to spread some sunshine of your own today 🙂
